TBD
When I write my Faith Fridays, I usually think about and settle on my title or subject line. This week I have tossed around a few different ideas, but I didn't really settle on one just yet. As you can see, I left it to be determined (TBD). So far I have had: Family That You Choose, Soul Food, and Food for the Soul. All of these titles revolve around the theme of love. I will explain.
My kids went to their dad’s this year for Thanksgiving, so that meant I was flying solo. I could have gone south to my brother’s, but I went to my best friend’s house instead. She is my chosen family. What started out as a friendship through a connection at PTHS, has evolved into my kids’ and my family, and knowing we have family here in town. Family isn’t always about blood. It is so often about the people who show up and help you through the tough times and celebrate the great times. Those who love you no matter what. Those who make you feel grateful that you get to have them in your life.
Another option was Soul Food and Food for the Soul. I was thinking of a play on the nourishing part regarding food, but also the nourishing of our soul from our faith, family, friends. As Catholics, we live this each Mass with the Eucharist - literal nourishment. But then something happened and I figured out the title. My kids came home from their Thanksgiving, and we were catching up on the day and the family they saw. Trinity was leaving and said, “Mom, I’m grateful for you.” Before I could respond, her friend Jeremy said, “Trin you mean thankful.” She said, “Well ya, actually both.”
Subject: "Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed."
These three things all come back to love, which equals God. I know we don’t have perfect or even easy lives sometimes. Hopefully each of us can think about the things in our lives that make us feel grateful, thankful, and blessed going into this Advent season.
